On November 8th, 2016, LA voters made it clear to the city that we they more affordable housing and good jobs for local residents by casting their vote for Prop JJJ, or “Build Better LA”. In doing so, we are also telling City officials and developers that we want a future Los Angeles that is accessible to ALL residents–not just the wealthy. A special shout out to our members, volunteers, and allies who put in their time to get out the vote!
Prop JJJ will build new housing near transit to reduce congestion, and ensure all residents have access to transportation and affordable housing. At the same time, it will require that developers who want special zones changes include affordable housing in their projects and hire local workers who need jobs the most, including previously homeless workers and single parents.
As key member of the ACT-LA and BBLA coalitions, KIWA is honored and proud to be a part of this victory for working Angelenas. We are joined by seventy-five housing, environmental, and workers’ rights organizations across the City in fighting for a more inclusive and equitable Los Angeles.
